There is so much anxiety and frustration with our elected leaders. In August, I hope you can step back some frustration, be kind to yourself, and be kind to the people in your world. Let’s work to make things happier and kinder. Below are my actions for more kindness and happiness. Also, Action For Happiness has a new Altruistic August calendar. See below.

These are my August Actions. They will make you happy !

  1. Educate yourself and vote! Many states have August primary elections
  2. Everyday spend quiet time outside doing something you love like walking, biking or gardening.
  3. Write a post cards to elected officials telling them how important clean water is to you.
  4. Have a conversation with someone you haven’t spoken to before.
  5. Smile!
  6. Encourage your employer to add wellness/happiness practice to their goals.
  7. Reduce your plastic footprint by refusing plastic and using reusable bags, containers, plates and utensils.
  8. Have several Trump-free days each week.
  9. Everyday be grateful, and always tell the truth!

Jump Into July Happiness

It’s July and, yes, many places on Earth are hot, but I hope you still can get outside for walks, bike rides, or just sitting and listening. Appreciate the Earth’s amazing diversity and beauty this July.   Will our hot temperatures create more climatarians, thinking about how our actions affect the earth as we consume, eat, drive around, travel and waste?   A climatarian is aware of their complete footprint on Earth.  Maybe in July, strive for #PlasticFreeJuly  #ChemicalFreeJuly or #nofoodwasteJuly.

July happiness is being kind to yourself and others, being kind to our earth, and spending time in nature.

Active April

Pick up litter everyday in April!

April is always, “Pick up litter” month. Can you get outside everyday and pick up at least one piece of trash for the 30 days of April? I challenge you to join me. On my daily walks I pick up litter.

Choose to Be Happy

March 20th is the International World Happiness Day. This year, 2018, Finland has been declared the world’s happiest country. Read about it here.  Finland is followed by Norway, Denmark, and Iceland. It amazes me that these cold Nordic countries tip the balance of happiness, obviously there is a lot more than long dark winters for happiness! These countries that are more environmentally savvy and conscious and consistently top the list of greenest countries.  Clean air, clean water, renewable energy, and reducing plastic pollution are their way of life.

1. Do things for others and volunteer your time
2. Take care of your body, go for a walk, eat fruits and vegetables
3. Pay attention and live your life mindfully
4. Learn new things, and lose yourself in something you love
5. Have goals or things to look forward to
6. Everything won’t go the way you want, but happy people bounce back and are resilient
7. Look for what is good and smile
8. Accept yourself, be comfortable with yourself and who you are
9. Be part of something bigger than just yourself
